Enviroschools

We are very proud to be part of  the Enviroschools Programme with both Peppertree and Little Peppertree Preschools being awarded the bronze awards.  As part of Enviorschools we promote sustainablilty and are respectful of each other, the environment and our resources.

The Enviroschools programme is about the well being of the whole centre, community and eco system and has strong links to the early childhood curriculum Te Whariki.  By being an enviroschool the children will learn life long skills which will enable them to protect and care for their environment and each other.

These are some of the things we are doing to be sustainable:

  • installing solar panels
  • having vege gardens and worm farms
  • having hens and collecting our own eggs
  • planting fruit trees
  • encouraging rubbish free lunch boxes
  • introducing nappy bags and wet bags for soiled clothes

If you have any ideas of other practises we can adopt to help our sustainability please see a staff member.
